Delete your 1code account
This page is for 1code, the phone app published by 1CODE X LTD. You can delete your account from the app, or by email if you cannot use it.
In the app
Your fingerprint or face is asked for last, so the account cannot be closed by someone holding your unlocked phone.
Without the app
Use this if your phone is lost, if the app no longer opens, or if you simply prefer to write to us. You do not need the app to delete your account.
Email us from your account's own email address, with the subject "Delete my account"
privacy@1code.email- We check it is really you first, before deleting anything. We send a one-time link to that address, and only clicking its button confirms the request — or, if you still have your phone, we ask you there.
- We answer within one month, and usually sooner.
What happens
- You are signed out everywhere at once, on every browser and device.
- Your account and its content are purged 30 days after you delete it (or after we confirm it is you), except the records below.
If you are the only owner of a company that other people belong to, hand ownership to someone else first — otherwise the company would be left with nobody who can administer it. The app tells you if this applies to you.
What we keep, and why
A few records outlast the account because the law requires them, or to prevent fraud or answer a claim. These include:
| Acceptance records | 6 years after the account closes — the time within which a claim about the agreement can usually be brought |
| Billing, invoices and tax records | 6 years after the end of the tax year in the United Kingdom, and 7 years in South Africa, as tax and company law requires |
| Identity check (KYC) documents, if you sold through 1code | 5 years after your selling relationship with us ends, however it ends. The identity document and photo from an application we turn down, or one left unfinished, are deleted after 90 days. |

| Retired or revoked phone certificates | 12 months, so revocation checks keep working |

The Privacy Policy lists every period in full, and is the authority if this page and it ever disagree.
Deleting some things without closing your account
You do not have to close the account to remove information from it. In the app you can remove a phone, a connected AI, your places and your mail. If you would rather we did it, write to privacy@1code.email and say what to remove.
